Academic career
Since 2008 I have been a professor at the University of Göttingen. My academic roots are at the IPW in Heidelberg, where I primarily studied (with minors in economics and public law), received my doctorate in 1994 and — after six years as Assistant Professor — completed my habilitation in 2002.
I gained international experience in 1992 as a visiting student at the University of Oxford and in 1997/98 as a John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow at the Center for European Studies at Harvard University.
